Bishop Bryant Robinson, Jr., the son of the late Bishop Bryant and Louise Robinson, Sr.,
was born January 21,1937, in Minter City, Mississippi.
His education began in Mobile, Alabama, and with the family's move to Springfield, Massachusetts, he continued his education in the Springfield Public School System. After
graduation from High School, Bishop Robinson attended and graduated from Barrington College in 1965. He earned a Master of
Arts Degree from American International College in 1971, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration and Leadership
from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1997.
Bishop Robinson began his career as an Elementary School Teacher. Approximately two years later,
he was appointed Principal of the William N. DeBerry Elementary School. In 1982, he was appointed to the position of Assistant
Superintendent of Schools-Elementary Division. He was the first African American to serve at the superintendences level. In
1984, he became Deputy Superintendent of Schools, and in January of 1989 he was appointed Interim Superintendent of Schools.
Following his
retirement from the Public School system, Bishop Robinson has served as Dean of Cambridge College, Springfield, Massachusetts. He also served as adjunct Professor at Central Connecticut
State University in New Britain, Connecticut. Bishop Robinson also served as a Police Commissioner for
eleven years for the Police Department of Springfield, Massachusetts.
Under the leadership of his father and Pastor, Bishop Robinson, Sr., Bishop Robinson accepted Christ in 1954. He received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that same
year and became a Licensed Minister in 1955. Bishop Robinson was ordained as an
Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1961 by Bishop L. C. Young, Bishop of the
Massachusetts First Jurisdiction. Bishop Robinson has served in a variety of positions such as State Choir Director, State
Sunday School Superintendent, Jurisdictional Secretary and Jurisdictional Chairman of Finance.
Bishop Robinson was appointed to the Pastorate of the Macedonia
and First Church of God in Christ in Springfield and Fitchburg, Massachusetts, in the year 1985, and continues to serve faithfully
today. In April 2002, he was consecrated and installed as the Jurisdictional Prelate of the Greater Massachusetts Jurisdiction.
Married since
1961, Bishop Robinson and his wife Margaree are the proud parents of three (3) children - son - Bryant Robinson III is
practicing Corporate law in Washington, DC; daughter - Renee Robinson Marshall is working in Early Childhood Education, Springfield,
MA; son - Todd Robinson is an Assistant Professor of History at UNLV in Las Vegas, NV; and they have (8) grandchildren.
